WBC Prayer Requests & Updates

- Please keep Yvonne Doobay in your prayers as she begins radiation treatment at the Sunnybrook Odette Cancer Centre. Her first session is scheduled for this Friday afternoon, followed by four additional sessions next week from September 14th through September 17th. Yvonne deeply appreciates the love, support, and prayers of our church community during this time.

- Give thanks with Pastor Paul for continued recovery from his August 17th surgery. He reports that the healing is going according to the doctor's schedule, and he is patiently waiting for an all-clear report to return to regular duties.

- Pray for our relationship with Grace Fellowship Church. Ask the Lord to fill their church with his wisdom and vision for how they might help us in our ministry, and fill us with a receptive heart for receiving the ministry leadership and help that could come our way.

WBC Missionary Updates

Peter & Valerie Limmer

Praise

1. We did recover pretty quickly after Canada Day. We were pretty draggy for about a week, but were still functional.

2. We just came through our third typhoon of the season. (We used to get 5-6 a year, but it’s been less in recent years.) This means that Peter’s regular physiotherapy appointment was cancelled. His physiotherapist is about to go on a week’s vacation, so we were worried that if Peter’s shoulder went without care for 3 weeks, he would be in a world of trouble and pain. Thankfully, there was a surprise cancellation, and Peter was able to receive the care he needed just before the typhoon hit.

3. Two of the non-Christian ladies who came to our Canada Day party have started coming to church on Sundays after the worship service to participate in sign language club!

Prayer

1. Valerie’s now been asked by our organization to help craft a resource for missionaries on how to address spiritual issues within the worldwide political context, addressing politically-adjacent issues without getting bogged down in political agendas which might compromise the effective spread of the Gospel. Please pray for us! Should we engage with this? If we do, we will need loads of wisdom from God on how to proceed.

2. Over the past year, we’ve been sharing about the vision God has given us for the Okinawan version of the Bible with our friends and church members here in Okinawa. However, the time is now coming for us to make a public announcement at church to make sure everyone knows what’s going on. Valerie is currently working with our language teacher on our Japanese presentation. Please pray that we will be able to communicate effectively, in a way that helps everyone to join in our excitement!

3. For Peter’s shoulder to continue to heal, even while his physiotherapist is on vacation.
